H.T. Chen & Dancers

‘Sunshine Mountain’ is a new work by H.T. Chen based on stories from Chinese in the American South. The hidden stories of these people were revealed in research trips by H.T. Chen to Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee during 2012. Oral histories were conducted with those who settled in the southern states before WWII. Collaborators include a Jazz/Blues composer from Mississippi, a Chinese American lyricist, video footage of oral histories, historic photographs, and a multi-generational cast of performers from New York and the southern states.
