CRY YOU ONE celebrates the diverse peoples and ecologies of Southeastern Louisiana while turning clear eyes on the crisis of a rapidly vanishing coastline. Louisiana’s coast is disappearing at a rate of 25 square miles per year. The loss will result in the largest forced migration in U.S. history. CRY YOU ONE offers a nuanced view of the crisis from the perspective of the artists and unique cultures who live and work in this threatened region. Part song, part story, and part procession inspired by the jazz funerals of New Orleans, CRY YOU ONE utilizes the unique music and stories of Louisiana to inspire connections between people working to steward the natural world wherever they live.
