In September 2016, Art in the Fields will present both the full production and excerpts of Progress Theatre’s original production The Burnin’ and an interactive workshop to raise consciousness about racism. The company is directed by Cristal Chanelle Truscott, whose innovative work in the theater includes the integration of African American modalities like call and response. The Burnin’ invites audiences to look deeper into personal and communal definitions of freedom, empowerment, and the course of “progress” we all have the power to impact.
