Creative City Boston Community Partner grants were by invitation only.
Creative City Boston Artist Grant finalists identified community partner organization(s) and nominated an organization (up to two) to apply for a Community Partner Grant prior to submitting their final project application.
Artists nomination: Artist finalists nominated up to two collaborating community partners to apply for supplemental community partner grants. Community partner grants totaled up to $5,000 per artist project. If there were two community partners nominated, the artist will indicate how the funds could be split between the nominated organizations.
Community Partner Application: Nominated organizations were invited by NEFA to submit a Community Partner Grant application. Community partner grant applications were reviewed by the panel as supplemental material along with the artist’s full proposal.
Community Partner Grant: Community partner grants were contingent upon the lead artist’s project being awarded. Community partner grants were up to $5,000 per artist project. Artists and community partner grantees were a part of a learning cohort for the duration of the grant year.
Creative City Boston fostered a community of practice among artists and community partners interested in sparking public imagination, inspiring community members to share in civic experience, and creatively engaging important conversations taking place in Boston’s communities through socially-engaged public art.
As NEFA invested in artists’ creative agency as civic leaders through Creative City Boston Artist Grants, we also recognized that collaboration and partnerships are essential to supporting artists taking creative risks in the public realm.
