Project Title
THE STORY OF CROW BOY
Fiscal Year Awarded
2017
Grant Amount
$6,500

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre is devising THE STORY OF CROW BOY based on the intriguing life of Japanese-American artist Taro Yashima and his courageously compassionate work that rose out of much brutality. At this time when the world is challenged by cultural suspicion and ethnic distrust, this work offers great potential for building dialogue on subjects that can be perplexingly difficult. Along with the performance, we will offer workshops based on the content of the piece explored with puppet theatre, and “graphic novel” journaling.
