"Corbeaux" (‘Ravens’) is a living sculpture. Occurring in public spaces that encourage unique encounters, "Corbeaux" is an intimate, up-close performance offering an experience of rare intensity. Thirty female dancers emerge as dark silhouettes wearing white headscarves occupying open spaces, producing sounds, and marking out rhythms with staccato jerks of the head. The result is a kind of collective litany, taxing for its performers, and breathtakin for the audience caught up in its raw energy. Originally created for the opening of the 2014 Marrakech Biennale, Ouizguen continues her exploration of society, the arts, and folk traditions in her home country of Morocco.
