On March 9 and 10, 2018, the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) will present Okwui Okpokwasili’s “Poor People’s TV Room.” Combining dance, theater, and storytelling, Okpokwasili’s performances reframe the oral traditions of West African griot poets and musicians, importing and updating these techniques for contemporary audiences. The ICA will host two pre-performance talks and post-show Q&As. Additionally, the ICA will host a post-show meeting with local choreographers, and a possible meeting with ICA teens.
