In 2016, Torn Space introduced the RESPONSE Festival as a source of internationally acclaimed contemporary performance otherwise absent in Western New York. Having hosted the multimedia performance company Temporary Distortion’s My Voice Has an Echo In It, the original immersive Torn Space production Burden, and PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art founder and renowned scholar Bonnie Marranca, the RESPONSE Festival expands to include two new companies and further academic involvement to expand regional accessibility to the powerful experience of today’s theatrical avant-garde. In 2017, Torn Space will host The Fever by the NYC based company 600 HIGHWAYMEN.
