Museum of Contemporary Art presents /peh-LO-tah/ - a futbol framed freedom suite..., an interdisciplinary work that uses soccer as a lens by which to examine global economics, fandom culture across borders, and the politics of joy. /peh-LO-tah/ - a futbol framed freedom suite… examines the game’s transcendent and corrupt sides by blending Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s award-winning spoken word poetry with dance performances and original music. With choreography emulating the movements of soccer players, and steeped in hip-hop as well as South African and Brazilian folkloric tradition, Bamuthi Joseph’s work explores the possibilities of expression within “the rhythm of the beautiful game.”
