Bijayini Satpathy

ABHIPSAA — a seeking, is composed of three distinct original dances, charting a journey of discovery in physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. In this evening-length choreographic debut, Satpathy expands the parameters of the formal and representational norms of the Odissi tradition through both narrative and non-narrative dances - reimagining classical Odissi forms through modern interpretation. The foremost global master of Odissi, Satpathy takes the audience on a profoundly personal journey. In collaboration with musicians, composers, lighting and theatrical designers, ABHIPSAA - a seeking is an otherworldly and transformative evening of dance.

Development and engagement residencies occured in India during fall 2020. 

Two sold-out performances capped a week-long educational residency for the world premiere at Duke Performances in December 2021. The New York City Premiere at BAC, an educational residency in Salisbury University in Maryland, and additional touring availability on the East Coast are planned for the Fall 2023.

Estimated Artist Fee: $7,500/performance; $20,600/week (plus travel and accommodations).
