BRKFST Dance Company’s NDP supported original dance work set to the orchestral composition of Dancers, Dreamers and Presidents by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) was originally commissioned by the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra, premiering in 2022 in Hartford, CT and 2023 in Minneapolis, MN. This rigorous, innovative, and choreographic collaborative work of Twin Cities-based breaking choreographers interprets Dancers, Dreamers and Presidents as a commentary on American life that is filled with a mix of ambition, passion, blame, justice, hope, and love. And while this country is deemed the "land of the free," it is riddled with systemic problems that seem impossible to overcome. For many, the “American Dream” remains just that—a dream.
Dancers, Dreamers and Presidents is available for touring to orchestras as well as proscenium stage venues, seeking opportunities to educate, collaborate, and communicate with audiences and communities while on tour. BRKFST will work with local colleges, universities, and hip-hop communities, offering adaptive, collaborative residencies to instigate shared experience across cultures of dancers and musicians.
