Historical and pop cultural figures play a critical role in Portland-based Tahni Holt's newest dance work DUET LOVE. A contemporary dance for four performers, DUET LOVE transforms fantasies about love into an inquiry about the desire for narrative within dance duets. Holt sources movements from iconic photographs of famous couples including Yoko Ono and John Lennon, Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy, and Beyonce and Jay-Z, using postural quotes to dispel ingrained notions of hetero-romance and traditional standards of masculinity and femininity.
