Drawing his creative strength from his Algerian roots, Hervé Koubi's latest 70 minute- long work "What the Day Owes To The Night," ( Ce que le jour doit à la nuit) combines capoeira, martial arts, urban and contemporary dance with powerful imagery for a group of 12 all male Algerian and African dancers. Inspired by by Orientalist paintings and the the stone characteristics of Islamic architecture, Koubi generates his own unique path, made up of a complex weave of entangled movement. The company has toured extensively all over France, Europe and Russia and is poised to bring its Mediterranean background and distinctive choreography to North America during the 2015/16 season and beyond.
