Carolina Performing Arts is proud to present choreographer Nora Chipaumire for the first time on our series. Her company will perform a work titled “portrait of myself as my father” that explores the complexities of masculine identity, the black body, as well as the choreographer’s imagined relationship with her own father whom she never met. Set in a boxing ring, the performance draws upon the physical vocabulary of sports as well as traditional movement from Zimbabwe.
